Terms of Use
Last updated 22 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and DB Golf Technologies LLC (“we”, “us”), the maker of Spread Golf, and apply when you use the Spread Golf app and this website (together, “Spread Golf”). By creating an account or using Spread Golf you agree to them, and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Spread Golf.
1. The app licence
The app is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which these terms add to. If the two conflict on the licence to use the app, Apple's agreement applies. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Spread Golf or its content.
2. Who can use Spread Golf
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission. You're responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. One person, one account.
3. Spread Golf Premium
- Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or annual, bought through the App Store. The price is shown before you buy.
- A free trial, where offered, is once per Apple ID. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before a trial or period ends, the subscription renews and your Apple ID is charged.
- Manage or cancel in iOS Settings under your Apple ID's Subscriptions. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
- If Premium ends, what you created stays yours. Plotted rounds remain viewable and editable, and you can still back out of a bet or payment you began.
- We may change what Premium includes or what it costs. A price change applies only from your next renewal, with the notice Apple requires.
4. Your content
You own the rounds, notes, photos and other content you add. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, display and share it as the app's features and your settings direct, and to run and improve Spread Golf. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where others already hold it as described in the Privacy Policy, such as settled bet records.
Course requests and corrections you send help build our course catalog, which includes data from OpenStreetMap under the Open Database License. You agree that course information you contribute (not your personal information) may be published in that catalog under the same licence.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use Spread Golf to:
- harass, threaten, impersonate or deceive other golfers;
- post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or that you have no right to share;
- post rounds you didn't play, or attest to rounds you didn't witness;
- scrape, reverse engineer, overload or interfere with the service, or reach data that isn't yours.
You can report content or a golfer in the app. We may remove content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these terms.
6. Bets and balances
Bets and balances are a ledger for your own records. No money moves through Spread Golf. We don't hold, transfer or guarantee any payment, we are not a party to any bet, and we don't settle disputes between golfers. Links to payment apps open those apps, whose own terms apply. You're responsible for making sure any wager you record is lawful where you are.
7. Stats and course data
Strokes gained, benchmarks, distances and other figures are estimates for improving your game. A handicap benchmark is an estimate built from Tour data, not measured amateur data. Course maps come largely from OpenStreetMap and may be incomplete or wrong, especially on courses not marked verified. Nothing in Spread Golf is an official handicap or a ruling under the Rules of Golf. Don't rely on the app for safety on the course.
8. Third-party services
Spread Golf links to or uses services such as Apple, YouTube and the USGA's GHIN. Their terms govern your use of them, and we're not responsible for them.
9. Changes and availability
We're building Spread Golf actively. Features may change, and we may suspend or end the service. If we end it, we'll give reasonable notice where we can, so you can delete your data. If we change these terms significantly, we'll tell you in the app before the change applies. Continuing to use Spread Golf afterwards means you accept the new terms.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Delete account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other golfers or the service at risk. Sections 4, 6, 7, 11 and 12 survive.
11. Disclaimers
Spread Golf is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to Spread Golf is limited to the greater of what you paid us for Premium in the 12 months before the claim and US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
